history on Instagram: "In 1977, Jim Henson invited the Swiss mime troupe Mummenschanz onto The Muppet Show. Instead of the usual puppets and jokes, the stage filled with silent figures wearing giant masks made of clay, toilet-paper rolls, and featureless rubber. They didn’t speak or sing. They bent their faces into grotesque shapes, tore pieces off, and stared into the audience with hollow, shifting expressions. Children watching at home were expecting Kermit and Miss Piggy.
