Lava spewed from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Saturday, December 6, footage from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) captured. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said the north vent of the volcano had shown heightened activity and "increasing spattering events" while the south vent had a moderate glow overnight. Deformation measurements indicate that the annual summertime pause in long-term caldera subsidence started in June. Lava spewed from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Saturday, footage from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) captured. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said sustained lava fountains of approximately 50-100 feet (15-30 meters) in height were erupting from the north vent and that the heights of the lava fountains were rapidly increasing.
